Based on the true story of the 1971 Baker Street bank robbery which was prevented from being told for over thirty years because of a Government gagging order. The real story of how one of the biggest robberies in British history took place with no arrests ever made nor money ever recovered. This is the most fun movie I have watched since In Bruges. This is a great cast which is led by Jason Statham from The Transporter and is his best role in quite awhile. Take a note that this movie is rated R and well deserved. It has some scenes of extreme violence and also some sexual content and nudity.

Another horror movie in the same vein as The Eye, The Ring and The Grudge. This one however, unlike the other three, I really liked. It starts with a newlywed couple who have an accident on a desolate road. They beleive they have hit a girl but when they come to they can’t find the body. They then move to Tokyo for a job opportunity for the husband…a very high profile photo shoot. Unexplainable blurs start to show up in many of their photos and then the mystery and terror begins. Can’t really say much else without giving away the mystery. Some very creepy scenes of terror and some that will make you jump for sure. Hope you enjoy. I know I did.

If you are looking for a good clean movie to watch with the family this week then you should pick this one up. It is a lot of fun and Martin Lawrence and Raven have a good chemistry. Martin plays an overprotective dad who takes his daughter on a road trip to visit Georgetown University and of course mayhem insues on their trip. This movie compares a lot to Are We Done Yet which by the way if you havn’t seen is another good one to watch with the family.

At least this movie had some good performances and a relevant storyline, but other than that it’s the same cookie cutter anti-war movie that we have seen over and over since the beginning of the Iraqi War. I’m sure there are some positive stories that come from war that could make decent movies but we sure never see them. I mean I understand that war is mostly negative but do we have to be reminded of it in every movie they make about it. That being said I do think this one was done pretty well. Ryan Phillippe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum put in solid performances, even though I found it a little hard to believe Phillippe as a Texan. Lots of war scenes, drinking and fighting. So if that’s your thing then don’t miss this one.

Another movie about young twenty somethings on vacation who wander into somplace they shouldn’t be and pay for it with their lives. Yes we have seen this story over and over in movies for years but I have to say I enjoyed this one. I was hoping it would be more scary than it was but it more than made up for it with some very graphic bloody scenes. It’s not as intense as say Hostel but I put it up there with The Descent. If your looking for a bit of blood and gore then give this one a try.

If you have teenage boys in your house from twelve to sixteen then this one is a must. The humor is a little too crude for kids under that age but it’s definately not Superbad either. I found it somewhat amusing but my two boys who are fifteen and sixteen thought it was hilarious. Owen Wilson was good in this and Leslie Mann was adorable but the three teenage boys definately stole this one. If you want some laughs give this one a try.

Another typical Tyler Perry movie. Meaning it is full of both humor and drama and some really crazy characters. This one though I liked better than his last two offerings, Why Did I Get Married and Daddy’s Little Girls. The characters, especially Lebroy Brown, stand out more and offer more humor which is really needed to offset the strong dramatic topics covered in this one. If you like Tyler Perry then don’t miss this one. It was surely a welcome pleasure.

The best action movie I have seen yet this year. The suspense and action are top rate as well as great actors giving great performances. This movie is about what appears to be a presidential assassassination and bombing in Spain. Then you get to go back in time several times to see what happened from different peoples perspective. This starts off being a bit annoying but after a few times it starts linking events together and the annoyance turns into you wanting to know what happens next. It’s full of twists and turns and deception and just down right plain fun movie watching. I wanted to know how it all ended but didn’t want it to end. This is a must see.

This movie won’t be for everyone…but it sure was for me. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are a couple of hitmen who are holed up in Bruges, Belgium awaiting further instructions from their boss, played by Ralph Fiennes, after doing a hit in London that didn’t go so well. The chemistry between Farrell and Gleeson is very good in this film and their performances are equally good. There is quite a bit of dark humor in this movie and very witty dialogue as well. The hardest part that you might have with this movie is catching all that witty dialogue due to the thick accents and foreign slang used. But if you pay close attention it will be well worth it.

You might have a tough time finding this one on the shelves of your local video store but it is worth looking for. This one stars Danny Glover and Charles S. Dutton in 1950 rural Alabama as the owner of the Honeydripper Lounge and its bartender respectively. The lounge isn’t doing so well against the next door competition due to the lack of competing musical attractions. Danny Glover plans a way to fix this and save his lounge from going under. This is a good movie with wonderful performances throughout and if you like good blues and early rock and roll don’t pass up on this one.
