A heartwarming chick flick starring Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange who both give charming performances. This movie is definately a mom’s kind of movie but If the dad’s will give it a chance I beleive they could like it as well. This movie deals with the heartaches and uplifting aspects of life, death and friendship. This compares favorably to Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood so if you enjoyed that movie you should like this one as well.

Also this week, actually the same night as Spiderwick, I watched 10,000 B.C.. I have been looking forward to seeing this movie ever since it was released in theatres. Boy was I dissapointed. Right from the beginning I just couldn’t get into it. I think they should have followed the style of Apocalypto and made the movie in subtitles. Having these characters from so early in history speaking english just didn’t fly with me. Then there was the special effects that were way too unrealistic looking. There was a nice love story buried in all this but it was just not enough for me to recommend this movie to anyone. So watch at your own risk. The risk of falling asleep.

Watched this movie on Wednesday night with my wife and two sons. Mind you, my sons are 15 and 16 years old. If they would have been younger, say 7 to 10, who I beleive this movie was marketed for I could see the potential of them being really scared. That being said, this movie was very good. Lots of suspense, action and superb special effects. Also a great story and wonderful performances by the children actors. I highly reccomend this movie for families. However I do caution families who have small children. It has some intense and scary scenes that could possibly cause nightmares later.
